Good evening (here anyway) @paulag. New to our Steem Community and just came across your post here, trying to become better educated on "all things" Steem ...
Prior to tonight, when I wanted to increase my stake in our community, I purchased Steem Power directly through BlockTrades, linked to my wallet.
With your video tonight, I tried an experiment, of sorts. I exchanged an identical amount of BTC for both Steem Power (SP) and Steem Dollars (SBD), executing the transactions as close together as I could manage.
Then, again as quickly as I could manage, I went on the Market and bought Steem (STM) with the exact amount of SBD exchanged for above. With that accomplished, then I went in and "Powered Up" that exact amount of STM just obtained from the SBD purchase.
After all that, what did I end up with? Less SP than my direct SP exchange ... I realize the market is constantly going up and down, but the time lag between these transactions was minutes (as far as I know, seconds is not possible ...).
Given your obvious expertise, I am writing all of this down to ask if your experience is different. That is, do you find it advantageous to go through SBD > STM >SP vs. simply exchanging for SP outright?
All input warmly received. If you simply want to provide a link to any other posts you may have already put together on this topic, that would be fine.
I have upvoted your post 100% (and saved it on Busy.org), as I can tell you put a lot into it. And also now following you. [Note: As stated in my introductory post, I am a Business Systems Analyst, so share your passion for systems and data ... 😊 👍]
