Before you ever be in conclusion that the seeds or fingerlings you got is runt, bad or does not grow in the pond, are you also sincere with yourself in terms of your feeding culture and water management practices?

Mostly, all fish farmers lament and being hurt badly about a seed not growing as expected which always result blaming the hatcher of such seed whose sell to them which we have to stop until this little piece is being pit into consideration and practice.

Factors that affect your fish from growing

• Poor feeding
  Just single feeding system within 24 hours isn't fair for smaller fish fingerlings, if you ever engaged in this your fish will be stunted to grow. Also, small fishes should be fed with branded imported feeds like, coppens, aller aqua or skertting here in Nigeria. This product helps in rapid growth.

• Skip feeding
  Many fish farmer expecially the beginners skip feeding which is pretty bad and complain later that the seed is bad or not growing due to the poor feeding act, feeding should not be skipped and expect your fish to grow well, time and resourcesare only burnt and waste for doing that. I would rather advice to stock what you can afford to feed with less stress.. Skip feeding is feeding your fish today skip tomorrow and feed the following day, this practice is not encouraged and never would it be, so it should be put into consideration.

• Over stocking
  This is another important factors that should be considered by all fish farmers. Ensure you stock your fish according to the size of your pond, over stocking will lead to poor growth of your fish and too much fishes in pond can also kill fishes for inconvenience them.

• Poor water management
  Poor water management practice is like exposing those fishes to dangers and calamities. Fishes will never grow with over population which will also leads to sickness and will leads to death which will eventually reduce your stock. Frequently changes of water is important as changing your baby diaper.

• Sorting
  This is also very important, fishes should be sort monthly, else the big ones in pond can start attacking the small ons and won't allow the small ons to eat when feeds is launched to them.

All these should be keept in practice and im sure fishes will grow as expected in pond and bring about more productivity
