Hey Hey! I'm back with another game review. The game is called Enter the Gungeon and it is super fun. It is a bullet hell game. If you are wondering what is a "bullet hell" game, one way to figure it out is when you are fighting a an enemy and your screen is filled with bullets there is a good chance that you are playing a bullet hell game.
Enter the Gungeon is a roguelike game and like my review about HADES and RISK of RAIN, playing roguelike games one way or another you will die but this is why roguelike games are fun. Every death in these type of games are rewarding and improving your skill slowly but surely. I need to be honest with you all I still can't finish the game, there is one run that seems I am unbeatable or so called a "god run" but still died to a stray bullet.
By the way this game is released in 2016 and is 5 years old now but still checks out. I recommend you to play this when you are bored or has free time. It is also playable to low spec computers and under 1 GB of storage needed so might as well try it.
Gameplay
What is fun in Enter the Gungeon is that there is a wide variety of weapons like a t-shirt cannon, a gun that shoots another gun, a crown that is also a gun that shoots bullets 360 degrees, and many more wacky guns. The game is also riddled with references to other video games like the megaman gun. There is also all sort of enemies, mobs, and bosses in the game.
This cute little guy is called the Bullet Kin and is one of the common enemies in the game. This guy killed me so many times, not because he is overpowered but because I'm just stupid and a stray bullet hit me killing the run and making me start all over again in the beginning. Most of my death is because of this guy😭.
A little clip of me using the Snowball Gun. As you can see it guns are unique and some guns have attributes and effects. This gun freeze the enemy and slow them down.
Another clip using a unique gun called Mailbox Gun. This gun shoots letters and packages. There is a chance that it will shoot a package containing poison or bomb that will explode.
These are some of the bosses I fought in game. Each of this bosses have their own attack style and different methods for defeating you. But overall when you fought bosses in this game your screen will be filled with bullets. I honestly think I can't play this game without being hit. These boss are super fun and will definitely play more so that I can beat them all and finish the game. But before that I need to get better at dodging the bullets of normal mobs😅.
Here is a little gameplay of me defeating the Trigger Twins. I almost lost but because of the Mailbox gun, more specifically the poison and the explosion of the gun made the fight easier. You can see in the gameplay that it is really a bullet hell and you need to dodge all of those bullets to avoid dying and starting all over again.
Overall this game is amazing and I'll play it until I beat it and discover all the secrets and strategies in the game. For a game that is 5 years old it still check out and very fun. The artstyle is amazing and also the soundtrack. Pixel games will always have a place in my heart especially indie games that are made by small teams. Indie games really have hidden gems in it.
