🦉 The white wagtail (Motacilla alba)
> - Motacilla lat .: mōto, mōtare move continuously, -cilla tail (cilla like a tail - only in ornithology, erroneous established name)

We're all used to seeing these slender, fleet-footed birds scurrying along sidewalks. However, they also live in the wild. They're most often spotted near rivers and lakes. Apparently, water bodies are essential for the insects these birds feed on.

In September (around mid- to late September), you can observe them migrating to warmer climates. I've even observed these birds in company with other birds, such as yellow wagtails (their close relatives) and even some species of sandpipers.
