About me:
I’m a Canadian engineer currently working in the fields of control systems and artificial intelligence. I studied systems engineering at MIT, and prior to that chemical and electrical engineering at the University of Alberta – that’s my formal education. Informally I study art, history, nature, economics, finance, math, programming, the list goes on. I read constantly, write occasionally, paint sometimes, and like to get out into nature in between all of that.

Why I joined:
I’ve been interested in blockchain, dApps, and crypto economics for the past couple of years but, until recently, had only been watching from the sidelines. Early this year I became a more active participant in the crypto economy for no real reason other than to learn more about the technology driving it, and dipped a small toe into the water. Along the way, I came to the belief that we are likely in the early stages of a new economic revolution – perhaps one that will be on par with the industrial and information revolutions. One of the exciting aspects of the crypto economic revolution is the potential for data sovereignty, and I think Steemit represents a step towards that goal. A trade-off to data sovereignty may be immutability, so hopefully I don't write anything here I end up regretting :)
