Cry the Beloved Country
The air is choked with hatred
the land is peopled with charred bodies
hearts are rendered in mournings
smarts of wounds lynch innocent heart
the moon is shinning with dark shadows
the fields are bathe in green blood
the clan is dimmed with silent elegies
heroes are scorned to silence
women are scythed into parts
children are marooned in the deserts
love is fled from the land
The aged are suckled by the teenagers
the teenagers are buried by the infirm
tears gush in our street gutters
cameras click at horrific scenes
the news is littered with heart breaks
the soul is alienated from the body
death looms the land as angels become demons
the wholly spirit has departed from the Lauds of the land
the crown is left on empty heads
the subjects are murdered in hearts
while critics are gone on designed exile
the poet has become a praise singer
he is starve to sing
The court is buried in favouritism
as the media become a silent watch dog
the musician has forgotten his note
his songs no longer rhyme with the rhythms of the land
a cow is a human, a human is an animal
death is his watchword, starvation is his end
the Kings Court is littered with sycophants
the king is impaired to the yearnings of the clan
life becomes a shadow left on the palms of death
we die alive or live in death
either ways, the difference is in where we come from
the land is condensed with tears
and I say to the poet
Oh! Cry the fate of the beloved crycry
