... she sat on the cold metal chair in the doctor's office, her phone buzzing unanswered. The doctor's voice was calm but heavy. "We found a mass... and it's malignant."
She didn't flinch. She only nodded quietly.
"I knew it," she whispered, like it was a secret finally allowed to rise to the surface...
