It has been a very wet week leading up to Memorial Day. The heavy rainfalls and high winds have been a bit too much lately.

[IMAGE: https://images.hive.blog/DQmfXYBMxaBeeM3JJFJW3Zkkiud4WHBa9dVmxYiRWV1vxhP/hivegarden-rain-2.jpg]

We got close to 2" of rainfall, and the yard is sopping wet, along with a flooded patio.

Even the back porch is soaked from the wind blowing the rain onto everything. That is something that rarely happens. I felt so bad about planting out the rest of the vegetables because they sure got a beating with that storm.

These Spanish Onions managed to stay fairly upright, considering being pounded by the rain.

These sweet peppers were only in one day before the storm. The wind was bending a lot of them over, and I had to reset many of them the following day.

It has rained so much that the tomato plants look a bit yellow. I'm going to have to fertilize them this week. The snap peas are growing quickly now; they must love all that water.

I planted the last of the lettuce, and it is still doing okay. I'm thinking of planting two sweet potato slips in this raised bed once I harvest the lettuce. It is still recovering from the long journey from Oregon to New York.

Back in the garden, the cabbages in the largest frame are loving the cooler weather and constant rainfall. They have gotten so large, along with the Bok Choi and Endive planted in between them.

It's starting to get crowded in there, but much of it will be harvested to give the cabbage ample room.

I planted the Walla Walla Onions the same week as the other onions, but they are still very small compared to them
.

The potatoes in the grow bags had to have more soil added, as I could see some potatoes popping above the soil.

The plants are already starting to flower, which is a good sign.

I spotted some berries forming on the strawberry plants in the tower garden. I went shopping for more plants, but every store was sold out. I really wanted to replace the empty areas where the winter killed off some of them.

[IMAGE: https://images.hive.blog/DQmdi99j1fnrprof4qiqYzsY8gZDZHk2Hp6PpHmmCaAF9bN/hivegarden-bakers-seeds.jpg]

It is a bit late to plant seeds, but I still had two Zinnia varieties that I ordered and forgot about. I did those and planted some Raddicio in one of the towers. Then I filled the rest of the tower with Green Beans. They did so well last year in the towers that I had to do a repeat, and it sure saves space for other larger plants in the big garden.

That's it for the vegetable garden update. Soon, I will show what's blooming, maybe tomorrow. I'm going to take time to clean some of the house on this rainy day. When the sun comes back out, I see a lot of weeds that need pulling out and some plants that need cutting back.

Enjoy the holiday, everyone!

Same here, cold one day, hot the next two, then two more rainy days, it just keeps cycling. I never have my heat on this late in May.

We had a wet May this year, unusual as we don't get the much rain normally. Am looking forward to seeing your garden produce soon!

We are still getting rain off and on. I hope you have a nice summer, Ed.

We, too, have had yo-yo temperatures. Today it's raining and 54 degrees, but Thursday's forecast is for 93 degrees. Really? That's nuts! The rain sure does make everything beautifully green, though.

Yep, our days are just like yours. This up and down by 30° is crazy though. I hope your gardens to wonderfully for you.

These strawberries look like they're going to reach a nice big size. I'm growing a few plants myself, but they usually come out tiny. I think I need a nice big pot like this one.

I hope you do get some big berries. I need to find more plants for the containers. I lost a few over the winter.
