TL & DR/DW: Posts are worth way more than the amount shown at the bottom at the moment if you don't make the mistakes shown in the video!

As a newer steemit user I really appreciate this tip! Will take that into account while posting my almost finished intro post, which I finally decided to write after reading your other articles. Thanks for that as well!

You make a good point re the "exchange" rate....butfor new users $2 / post would be a dream come true....try $0.02 / post and the time/value equation is more realistic.
Whales seem to wear beer goggles, and this is the reason for the departure rates of minnows IMHO

I know many people are making way less. But I still saw people leave because they said "Hey, 2$ a post is not enough!". Why would we promote steemit with using way to low numbers?!

But thats the basic "sales" problem.
Under promise & over deliver works, the other way around does not.
If you set the expectation at $0.02 (currently realistic) then they are not disappointed.
The concept that whales/bots can fix this is short sighted IMHO.

FWIW my AuthorBOT and CommentBOT code is nearly done. Add it to the VoteBOT code and we can all go to the beach & leave the social site to run itself...... just a thought ;-)

The actual solution IMHO is a change in the mindset of steem re who earns
Maybe Authors (20%) and Commenters (80%) of the reward pool. (but 10/90 would be better for platform growth)

I started a month ago with the goal to buy myself - a coffee at the end of the month. Meanwhile, I wrote one very good post, earned 30 SBD in total and SBD is now worth 10 $. In conclusion, I was doing what I'm regularly doing and earned 300 $! Plus, now I know how to do it even beter.

Maybe... My plan is to wait about a month and see how the exchange rate SBD vs Steem will evolve. Now it's about 5:1, but I hope that Steem will inflate a bit more. But yes, you are right, one the power is higher than 50, you can always upvote yourself at least 0.01 and break the psychological barrier that the post is terrible 0.00 $

I probably wouldn't wait for the huge amout! Just use half now and half in a month or so :) Average price -> you won't be mad!

They're ok quality wise, I would say excellent for a beginner :)

I say enjoy the ride. You will never make any money or have any fun on Steemit if you don't stick around, put in some effort and engage with others. This is not a a gamble at the slot machines where you post something crappy and all of sudden you are a millionaire. Work at it. Every little bit counts.

Can confirm that. I'm not a very good writer. But by being active here. I'm able to earn a few pennies here and there. Which accumulate in the long run. And with SBD at $13, even the newer writer get to earn some decent rewards.

I definitely agree that posts are worth more than just the displayed value. Even for something like commenting, a small upvote on a comment like something worth $.30 might actually be close to $1.50 when adjusting for the price of SBD. It adds up after a while so it definitely feels like anything you do right now on Steem helps you earn and grow your account.

50/50 Is the default setting.

So when posting a blog or a comment the reward settings should look like this:

I don't flag much but there are times when an article deserve a flag because it is just junk. I always consider flagging as downvoting and nothing more but to say that you think a comment or article is junk.

However after reading many articles, it says that FLAGGING hurts SBD? How is this?

I dont have much but I did manage to buy more Steem with my 1 SBD in the market then converted it to about 5 Steem Power.

My other 1 SBD I used to resteem THIS great article so others don't make the mistake I made by doing transfers to turn SBD to Steem.

Honestly, it is frustrating. If you put much effort and time behind a post but couldn't attract heavy weight visitor, you have every right to be frustrated. But taking decision to leave this wonderful community will be really a bad decision. Be sticky here and you will be rewarded.

at first i also made the mistake of looking at the numbers as USD because of the dollar sign, but it turns out they're worth even more. it's also one of the reasons why i signed up. it could be wishful thinking but i feel like steem might still be undervalued.

The 0.02dollars is annoying but Remember some pple still have 0.00dollars and still don't complain but keep moving. With time the 0.02 would turn to 20dollars. Nice post @theaustrianguy.

People are used to post everything for just a few likes, favs, stars or whatever, so basically for free. Steemit can be seen as a huge progress and further development for people who create value with their posts. Makes a big difference.

Yeah, the difference to the known others is huge. On the one hand, steemit is not such a data collector, on the other hand users get rewared - awesome :)

Great post!! I always try to remind people what has Facebook ever paid you?? Exactly nothing. People spend hours a day on there and get zilch. If you truly embrace the steemit community and are not looking to make a quick buck this platform will reward you 10-fold. Just try to write clear and concise posts and be continuously involved in the community. Find some posts you enjoy and try to add value to the post. I believe in my heart I have found the right platform finally. I am only a minnow with a whale's heart. I watched a video interview yesterday of a top steemit producer and he said remember, you will be able to tell people one day you were there when steemit was still in the beta stage. He is projecting steemit to explode in the next 4 years and right now less than 99 percent of the world know about steemit. Hang in their everyone and keep steeming. Love this community and can't wait to see what the future has in store.

I am in Steemit for long term goals and figured I don't need my SBD so I decided to convert it to Steem Power! I wish you made this video before I transferred my SBD to savings to convert to Steem.

I made the mistake of recently transferring my SBD to Steem instead of using the market function! I only got 70% of SBD for Steem Power!
