Silent Hill - The Start

I have been a fan of the horror genre in video games, after playing Outlast, resident evil, Forest, I am set to try the classical remake - Silent hill. After a long wait, silent hill game is here, let's see what story and art it brings for us. I have never played silent hill, so it is a completely new game for me.

The first screen reminds me of Alan wake, the charater looks similar too. The premise is also very similar. Modern horror games are like movie, comes with so many aspects - bloom, distortion, fog, lightning, climate box, color graients, shaders, etc. which makes it very heavy on low end hardware.

Lightnings, colors, shadows and ambience are the main elements of any horror game. I wish to play Alan wake 2 soon. That will need a good setup but that game worths all this hardwork.

The game requires modern graphic card, I am playing it on 1050ti, so a lot of things are compromised on graphical end.

Yet with the bare minimum setting, I am able to get decent 25-35 fps.

James is our protagonist here who is on a trip to revisit the town where his wife died 3 years ago due to a mysterious disease.

Music is fine as well, not spooky or forcing on my ears. They could have done better with wind sounds.

I found the first save point in the game. I have to find these red papers to save my game.

At the end of the trail I found the cemetry.

I entered and found a visitor. I asked for the way to the town.

She directed me towards the exit gate. It is foggy.

Hard to navigate when the fog is so dense.

I left the cemetry and took the road to the town. This road passes through Silent Hill Ranch.

Buildings were not accessbile. No jumpscares yet.

Few vans, and trucks but no traces of humans.

Seems like the place is abandoned.

I went to check few shops for collectibles. I am looking for a key to open the gate and exit this side of the map.

I need to find other way to get inside the shop, I have no guns or armor. No torch or med kits.

I went inside and found the shopkeper left the shop 3 years ago and has not returned since then. I found the key in drawer.

I opened the final gate and made through it easily.

It feels like the town is starting as I can see well developed buildings and shops.

I need to take the under way to cross the highway abd get to the city part.

The fog is getting thicker, hard to see anything. I need a map or else I will be lost in this city.

I started crossing the trail, I need to get down to the city.

At the end of the trail, I found the map board. I colleceted the maps and all set to begin my story in this mysterious city. There is no in-built camera to take in game pictures, so finding a good angle is tricky.
