She angled her laptop toward me, eyes sharp with expectations. The screen was filled with charts and lessons I couldn’t bear to face.

“C’mon,” she said, “this is crucial. If you’re serious about profitability, you can’t skip this.”

I barely glanced at the screen before retreating back to my phone. My head, stuffed with concepts and strategies, felt swollen to a point of rapture. “Girl, I sighed, I swear I can’t hold any more knowledge. One more ounce and I’ll burst.”

“What?!” She frowned. “You ain’t serious,” she reasoned, rather flatly.

My chest tightened with the weight of it all. I just needed an escape from all the lectures and concepts, TikTok, maybe binge-watch. “I beg, not now,” I said, opening TikTok. “I need a weekend off from learning.”

Silence stretched between us. Then she closed her laptop with a decisive slam. “You’re probably right,” she admitted. “No more knowledge. It’s the weekend.”

“Yes please,” I said, a contagious smile spreading across my face. “It’s the weekend!"
