Yesterday afternoon, I saw this beautiful and attractive caterpillar on a green leaf in the sunlight. The combination of bright yellow, black and reddish colors on its body and the hairs spread around it made it very unique and attractive. When I looked closely, it seemed like nature itself had created a small work of art.
According to iNaturalist, this is a tussock moth caterpillar of the genus Orgyia. The long hairs and bright colors on their bodies are mainly a way of self-defense, which helps to warn predators. Many species of Orgyia caterpillars move slowly on leaves and survive by eating the leaves of various plants.
What I liked most about the photo was its colorful body design and the scene of moving slowly on the leaves. When you look at the small creatures of nature up close, you can understand how much extraordinary beauty is hidden even in the small world.
