What is Document Z?

Document Z is an interactive Zombie survival story. Like many contests the writers will receive a prompt on what to write about. We have many exciting twists, turns and tricks up our sleeves and there will come something later on that is even bigger and more personalized later on, but for now we will start with what is planned for Season 1... so let me explain. The prompt for Season 1, Part 1 will have a character that will be given a setting, some clues and a goal in mind. Contestants will submit their results, based on the prompt and setting we give to the them.

From the submissions a winner for that part will be chosen and this will be joined to the Setting in the prompt to expand the story. It becomes CANON forever and you gain mention for that contribution.

Then Part 2 gets another prompt and that is added on. All writers now need to base their story on this amended timeline.

Prizes:

Each Season will have the big prize(s) at the end, while winning a Part in a season will reward you with a smaller prize of STEEM. There will also be a set amount of STEEM left over for the runner ups and for the people that choose to pre-register with us.

We have the Seasons reward being 5.07 STEEM ($30 USD value as of 01-24-2018) + 40% of the STEEM that @writers-edge generates in EVERY post we make during the season. We also have 4.22 STEEM ($25 USD value as of 01-24-2018) dedicated for each part of the season. We have 7.60 STEEM ($45 USD valued as of 01-24-2018) dedicated for random rewards that we will give out based on your contest entries.

Point System:

The point system is set in place to decided the combination of quality, plot structure and intensity of the entry. We will also will be giving points of how active you are in the community.

Criteria Includes:

Postitive points

Plot Structure

Pace of the writing piece

Action

Vivis description

Good dialogue

Formatting that is easy to read

Also note that other criteria will be looked at from the scene to scene, adding value for unique and creative ideas. Points will also be awarded for user interaction within the Document Z community - The other contestants! We would like to add value to each other by being involved with the posts.

Negative points

Although this writing contest is friendly to new writers or Steemers who have never written a story before, we would like to discourage the following:

Excessive errors - Please edit your post and check it over for small errors. You will have enough time to make your entry. You will not be penalized for one or two errors, but it will not add value to have a post that is rife with spelling errors and bad grammar.

Unoriginality -Steemit has a unique open platform and if your post is very similar to a post that came before you, it will be noticed and you wont get a lot of points.

Zero Community involvement - The lone wolf dies, while the pack survives. If you are a contestant that never votes for your fellows or interact with them, then you are not adding value to the community. Other contestants will likely give you up-votes and comments. It would only be right if you engaged with them as well.

How to Pre-register

Your registry post needs to include the following:

Steemit post Title: Document Z registration - A Zombie Survival Contest.

Introduce yourself: Here you post about who you are and what you do in real life, on Steemit, etc...

What level is my writing? - Use this heading and state what is your experience in writing. It does not matter if you are brand new or and old time writer, your post will be judged based on enough merits that it will give everyone a fair chance.

What Zombie movies/books/series do I enjoy? - Use this heading to give a statement on what you like and what you know regarding zombies!

The post must contain the following tags: #writersedge #documentz

You may then add any other tags on as you wish, we suggest #writing #fiction #zombie

Once this post has been made. You can reply to this Post with a link to your registry for everyone to find. You may also post it under Pre-Registry, Document Z in the ISC Discord Channel

I got here early because I am not having a good day as you may know and will be blogging tonite and at my #SteemitCampfire post going up.

Most people get offended when they ask for input...... what they really want to hear I have found, is someone who just echo chambers everything and will say nothing constructive.

I hope you do not get upset and turn on me for honest advice like so many here have done but you asked me.

1/ This has a lot of rules, and stuff to look at and remember and lots of moving parts. Most people don't deal with this stuff well, none of it. That said, I am more like you guys it seems, myself. I would write something like this too to cover bases.

2/ This is largely a liberty/voluntary / anarch. community.... again, see #1 LOL

3/ It reminds me of something I came up with last year myself with my offgrid/bushcraft/survival interests etc..... but before I could do anything, which is fine..... @papa-pepper started up that massive series with a lot of these components here in it, it was hugely successful.

-- some older Steemians might see this as a rerun sort of of that long running series. Maybe not.

So many new people coming over the weeks and days and months, would have never seen that series, so they could have found this or may have seen it.

This post got 83 views, and 6 votes. That is a lot of views these days.

Not much action, like you DM'd me on.

I was thinking even more.

You may want to tie this into the offgrid / homesteading communities and hashtags, without getting nailed for tag spam.

Those communities are both directly tied to things I mentioned earlier.
