Una de las costumbres que nos enseñó mi mamá fue en la fecha en que llega la procesión de la Divina Pastora a vestirnos con una franela que tenga una imagen de ella, como para darle la bienvenida, eso es algo que tenemos tiempo haciendo, aunque ya mi hijo está grande para tenerle una con tantas cosas me he pasado en hacerle de verdad, pero hay una camisa de mi mamá que casualidad ya le queda y aproveche y se la puse para que el siga la tradición, como representando a su abuela y lo que tanto ella nos enseñó, porque aunque ella ahorita como tal no puede seguir haciéndolo, siento que le dejo un legado a su nieto para que el mismo también lo siga, ya en su momento si me gustaría hacerle una para él, claro no está mal la que tiene de su abuela pero quizás más adelante.
Es muy lindo ver cómo aunque sea cosas sencillas prevalecen con el tiempo, costumbres o relatos que nos dan nostalgia y que podemos transmitir a nuestros hijos, sobre todo hacerlos sentir que es algo que nos ha dejado con el pasar del tiempo una huella en estar presente en estos momentos, en el que hasta nuestra ropa tenga un significado, por lo menos ese día también el caminarla, el comer sopa con las familias que nos visitan, cada detalle lo hace especial y único para mantenerlo por más tiempo, para que sea una manera que cada cosa sea importante hacer y permanecer con ello para los demás.

One of the traditions my mom taught us was to wear a T-shirt with a picture of the Divina Pastora on the day her procession arrives, as a way of welcoming her. that’s something we’ve been doing for a long time, although my son is too old now to have one with all those details—I’ve gone overboard making them for him—but there’s a shirt of my mom’s that, by chance, fits him now, so I took the opportunity and put it on him so he can carry on the tradition, as if representing his grandmother and everything she taught us, because even though she can’t continue doing it herself right now, I feel like she’s leaving a legacy for her grandson so that he can carry it on too. Someday I’d like to make one for him—of course, the one he has from his grandmother isn’t bad, but maybe later.
It’s really lovely to see how even simple things endure over time—traditions or stories that fill us with nostalgia and that we can pass on to our children. Above all, it’s about making them feel that these are things that have left a lasting mark on us over the years, allowing us to be fully present in these moments—moments when even our clothes hold meaning, at least on that day—as well as walking together and eating soup with the families who visit us. every detail makes it special and unique, so we can cherish it for longer, making it a way for everything to be meaningful and to preserve it for others.
