What happens to a post's payout after the initial 24 hour time limit?

BY: @ynotplay | CREATED: July 19, 2016, 12:29 a.m. | VOTES: 5 | PAYOUT: $0.00 | [ VOTE ]

I'm trying to get a better grasp of Steemi's game dynamics.

I noticed that posts show the payout date. What happens after payout is done?

For example, an old post has a "Past Payout" of $1 and now it is at $0. If someone upvotes this old post, does the system reset and begin another payout cycle?

Will an post ever retire and no longer earn any payouts?

not sure what the answer is, but I'm upvoting you to see if you get some visiblity and someone else answers. Have not had time to read the paper.

Yes the system resets every 24 hours and the post can earn $ again. If a large vote(s) is received just prior to the payout time expiring then it will extend the payout expiry period based on a formula which isn't clearly explained. Check out page 19 of the Steemit White Paper for further information.

Good question. As an experiment, I just upvoted you. Let's see if the upvote resuscitates your old post!
