New on PeakD: Optional AI Usage Transparency Tools

Creators on Hive use AI in many different ways — from simple grammar fixes to translations, to thumbnail images, to brainstorming and research. Many believe these tools help produce clearer, more accessible, and more polished content.

And many Hive communities have different expectations around AI. All communities would appreciate transparency.

So PeakD is introducing a simple, optional, standardized way for creators to share how (or if) AI assisted a post. We welcome other interfaces to integrate this SIMPLE system as well.

This supports transparency without dictating how anyone should vote or create.

How to use the AI usage tool

In the post editor (under Advanced Settings) you can optionally mark:

You can still describe your AI usage inside the post if you want — this tool simply gives an additional standardized way to show it.

Give credit where it’s due.
This tool helps authors highlight what was created by them and what was assisted.

How does it work and Hive integration

From a technical point the integartion of this new feature with the Hive blockchain is pretty straightforward. All the details are stored in the post json metadata in this form:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this new update! As someone whose professional job revolves around AI and Enterprise level AI Factories... I use AI all the time for Image generation/manipulation or Video generation or even 3D model Generation. And having a clear simple way to clearly state the post includes something AI is a welcome change!

Also I want to call out 2 things:
1) Thank you for making it optional and not trying to police the massive community, it would only lead to negative response from people.
2) I love that the hovering over the "Use of AI" shows you exactly where the AI was utilized!

Excellent update. I didn't use those buttons that always appeared at the beginning of posts much, but now I might use them more often, especially the tools option. I don't use AI much for the content I share here on Hive, but I do support the idea that it's a very useful tool to make things easier and faster. For example, the option to translate the text of a post sounds great, especially since my native language is not english.

However, one detail I would like to add as a suggestion for the future is the option that, when generating the translated text in one of the selected languages, The commands used in the post should not be displayed, only the text itself.

I am not totally against 'AI' tools, but I agree that people should be honest about what they use. They can be used to enhance human creativity rather than to replace it. I don't tend to use them much apart from for translation.

I'm a little late to this party (too late to vote, so I tipped instead), because I had to think about how AI should be approached. Because of this post, and the work and tools it details, my feelings about AI are more nuanced. Previously I have strongly been averse to almost everything AI - except translation, which I depend on to broaden my ability to understand people and interact with them.

I not only appreciate the good work and tools you have undertaken, but the necessity to give better thought to AI, that is going to increasingly impact us all.
